Program
The revision of the by-laws started as a committee to develop protocols for the committees to follow. This has been a long process. Even though many changes have been implemented, 1979 was the last official revision. It was decided that the by-laws need to updated. They have been through seven revisions in an attempt to continue to operate as closely as possible to the current mode of operation. John Raboin explained the changes that seemed to be the most significant.
  • Only regular members will be admitted.
  • Due process for termination will follow the state statute.
  • Special meetings can be scheduled and are the only means of making changes to the by-laws.
  • An annual meeting needs to take place in the month of May
  • Our current Board is not structured legally. At large members need to be elected with staggered terms. The voting board will then consist of 13 members including the officers.Vacancies on the board will be filled by the board
  • There will be a minimum of 6 meetings per year
  • Board members can be removed by 2/3 vote of board 501c under Sertoma International and this incorporated into the by-laws

There was considerable debate about the voting issue. Charlie Bartels and John Raboin both reiterated that it was a legal issue. President Korte reminded everyone that this must be done to protect the officers and the membership from legal ramifications. As an insurance representative Chuck Brenny urged everyone to vote yes. Art Becker moved to accept the proposal and Brian Kirkpatrick seconded. Gus assured everyone that the roles of the officers and the committees are being constantly scrutinized to distribute responsibilities more fairly. The motion to accept passed unanimously. This has been pre approved by Sertoma International. The next task is to work on the articles of incorporation. President Korte thanked John Raboin for his efforts to get this finished. The membership did give him a standing ovation. Thanks Cathe Picek and Bonnie Cumberland for your newsletter assistance. Cathe took induction pictures and Bonnie continues as the "bean" counter.

Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes.
Announcements
Due to the passage of our new by-laws, we need to appoint 6 people to fill the at-large board positions created by this decision . The Brainerd Noon Sertoma Board will consist of these six people plus the officers in the future. The positions will have staggered terms, but for the interim people should plan on being a member until the end of the fiscal year in June. At the annual meeting which is officially scheduled for May, the new Board Members and the 3rd VP will be elected in a regular manner. The March Board meeting has been postponed for a week and will occur on March 24th due to Spring Break. At that time the six positions will be filled. Those wishing to be considered for the position should contact Steve Mau at 218-851-6381 or email him at steve@brainerdrental.com
If you wish to attend the Sioux Falls Convention, the information you received by email can be printed out and the forms filled in and returned to Mark Korte in the next week or two.
"Thank you for my prize but thanks more for the memories." Dottie Mitz wrote a nice thank you to the club for helping her show her daughter what a "White Christmas" really means. Dottie moved here a few years ago from Arizona.
David Pundt's wife donated $50 to the Club.
March is Foodshelf Month for the Salvation Army. Everyone should bring non perishable food for the meetings that month.
Grant application for Winter Wonderland Sponsorship are available online at the Sertoma site. They are also linked to the Winter Wonderland Site. Encourage applicants to go and get a copy to fill out. These will be officially completed by late April or early May.

It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

Of Note
Jim Mayne represented the rookies and thanked all the people who participated in the Mardis Gras bash as well as the sponsors. The money raised is considerable--check will be presented in March. The room was beautiful, the limo-masks-beads-band all made it very festive, the Cajun food was superb, and the camaraderie was outstanding. Thanks to Tad Hoskins and his crew for a job well done. Rumor Corner
  • Welcome back Mary Marana, just in time to help us pray!
  • Jim Grant is looking for his wife's sweater-left at the rookie party. Bill Goers admitted to finding the sweater and congratulated Jim on finding the pants
  • Craig catered the induction--LoAnn complimented them on their wonderful food. Bill fined him because it was TOOOO much and he hated leaving it.
  • Charlie Bartels was having a free lunch on Dave Clausen
  • Lunkers is sponsoring Good Sam Bowl on March 4th. For those of you not in the know, Lunkers is the new baseball team. Bryan Barrer is looking forward to his fancy seats he bought at the Rookie Party.
  • David Allen Pundt actor and substitute teacher
  • Chowtime at the YMCA on Thursday. Anita made a quick announcement and didn't even get fined for it
  • Mr. Raboin needed to wear his attorney clothes today. He actually received a standing ovation for his pro bono work on the by-laws.
  • The fact that we are operating on the 1979 by-laws could mean Stimulus checks for Sertomans collecting dues refunds ($35 a quarter in 1979)
  • Kristin was flaunting her "condition" and winning money.
  • Hotel California, Johnny Cochran, three ring circus--korteisms. He did do an excellent Ed McMahon introducing Mr. Raboin with a "Here's Jooooooohnnny!"
  • Carole Paulson got fined for using her high school yearbook picture in her advertisement for Carole Paulson Associates.
  • Paul Keprios looked good in a speedo in Cabo St. Lucas. Scott Fisher wants to borrow it for his trip to Florida and is taking his "potato".
  • Pam Sachs got fined for taking blackmail pictures.
  • Crouton duels are a no no!
  • Bill Goers caused a huge traffic jam running out of gas in front of Mills. Paul Keprios had to share!

Notes from your President
We have been asked to participate in the March Food Share Campaign sponsored by the Salvation Army. The March campaign is very important since it determines the amount of funding allocated throughout the year to purchase more food for the shelf. Food and dollars donated stay in the community. Money donations work through the Second Harvest Food Bank and actually allows the Salvation Army to buy more food per dollar so monetary donations are welcome. The weakened economy has increased the demand for services and this is one way to help those struggling with these issues for the first time. If everyone brings one non-perishable food item to each of our March meetings, we can make a significant contribution to the cause.
