Program

Today we heard highlights from the July 15th Board Meeting from Chairman Steve Mau. They included:

  • A motion to match the $443 Safears grant from International.
  • Pipe and Drape and Flags have some outstanding bill. There is some question about the apparent fifteen percent reduction in Pipe and Drape income this year.
  • The Sponsorship Committee now has the ability to donate $500 per month without Board approval.
  • We added Brenda Kelly and Douglas Benzer. Erika Eigner and Cheryal Lee Hills were drops.
  • A general budget has been presented.
  • A $500 donation was made to help with the dog program at the Baxter Police.

All members are encouraged to attend and vote on these important items that affect the club.

Thanks Amie Anderson for taking notes!

Sertoman of the Day
Steve "Gus" Augustinack was our honored Sertoman. Gus began with his family since he is a very family oriented individual. He and Ginger met at Island View Resort (now part of Craguns) and have been married for 24 year with three great children. His two company names include Integrity Plus and LAKES Media collaborative. Both of these groups operate out of Brainerd High School. He also does some free lance work. Gus is a technology guru who has contributed much of his talent to various project in Sertoma including the technology committee, sponsorship committee, park committee, Winter Wonderland Co-Chair, and liason between Sertoma and the Swinging Sertomans. Gus plays in two bands and enjoys the drums. His sponsor was Reed Campbell but he was pointed in the direction of Sertoma when he moved here by a Rotarian (thanks Kevin Dens). His most embarrassing moment involved a thank you note that he entrusted to a total stranger to deliver to someone at the school district after his initial interview. He handed this "important" letter to a total stranger to mail. His second thoughts were totally unnecessary since he handed the letter to the wife of the Brainerd School official who was the intended recipient!. Thanks Gus for all you do and have done in the past eleven years to make Sertoma Work! Mark Korte summed it up by saying, "We wouldn't be the club we are without you!"
Of Note
Karla has a doctor's appointment on Thursday that hopefully will give her some additional information about her condition.

Les is still incapacitated at Bethany and needs all the visits and cards we can spare.

We are certainly sad to see Erika and her family leave the area.

Business Notes
Thanks again to Cub Foods who continues to support the community through the brat sales. George Moore reported that in spite of the bad weather, we did make $415.
Rumor Corner
  • The three Pams definitely agree that Mark Korte has too many of us in his life. (His wife is named Pam also). His Pam Bye imitation at introductions earned him the Marky Markdown award from the radio sergeant.
  • Voting seems to be popular. Today Sue VanWagner got herself a new Sertoman of the Day because we voted Paul Heinlin in to the spot.
  • Raboin introduced his guest as a relative of the Dances With Wolves character.. Perhaps he is also selling bridges.
  • Happy Fines abounded--Tad Hoskins is a new grandpa, Mike Boen paid a buck in honor of our perpetual greeter Art Becker, and someone should have paid a fine because our sergeant looked so "sporty" today.
  • Rod Converse stopped by for a brief visit before the meeting--something about his wife, Angela Jolie, and Mick Jagger. Come back again and stay to see everyone!!!
  • Budweiser is trading the Clydes for Belgians and Ted is contacting that famous "stone" company to learn the new language.
  • It was goosebump city at Bonanza today--too much air conditioning and not enough bodies to warm it up. Sertomans must melt in the rain.
  • Mark Korte added a new law to Korte's Rules today. The word sophisticated is banned (just for Raboin). He also didn't have his "ducks in a row", they were all swimming crazily as usual.
  • Pam Sachs and Bryan Barrer are circulating a petition to make Bonanza get the picked beets back on the salad bar!!
