Program
Pete Alexander, the incoming President of Camp Sertoma spoke first. He expressed the appreciation of the group for our continuing involvement since John Haappajoki and Dave Burggraff promoted the beginnings of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing project. Greg Fultz was thanked for his six year effort as President Camp Sertoma. Their first new member of the year was Cathe Picek. Members come from all over the state to support this effort. This week there are 70 kids and 23 counselors. Jenni Bailey is very enthusiastic about this year's group of counselors. The ages are 1-6th grade this week and next week is 7th-12th grade. Call Camp Confidence if you want to volunteer for any 10:00-1:00 or 4-6 times when it is busiest because of meals(or call Pete at 320 250 1952). Those who are looking for their GEM award can attend the Camp Sertoma meeting on Friday at 2 p.m. To help them qualify for this prestigious award.

LoAnn introduced the leadership team and asked us all to keep them informed of issues. Volunteering must be fun-work hard and play hard is back in as LoAnn's goal. Membership needs to be a focus since we have now dropped. to fourth internationally. She would like a 10% net increase. She is also stressing involvement to keep the new members. Recognition of volunteers is one of her priorities also. Developing structure and protocol will continue with a task force lead by John Raboin. LoAnn is proud to be president and proud to be a Sertoman. She looks forward to the support of the club in her efforts to make this work, acquire new members, and have fun in the process.

Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes and pics and Bonnie Cumberland for taking attendance.
Announcements
LoAnn announced that we need to be more accurate with our volunteer hours including non-Sertoma hours. Cathe Picek handed out the data base and quickbook update sheets. Please fill out and return to her. Everyone must update.
Special thanks to all the Fourth of July flag folks.
Patronize the brat sale at Cub Food Baxter this weekend Friday and Saturday.
Burn the Mortgage, Pay Off Debt Party Thursday August 13th with more details to follow. It is the kickoff Party for LoAnn's reign. The Pipe and Drape loan and the Winter Wonderland debt is a thing of the past and we need to celebrate and acknowledge all the hard work that has been put into these two projects.
Grant application for Winter Wonderland Sponsorship are available online at the Sertoma site. They are also linked to the Winter Wonderland Site. Encourage applicants to go and get a copy to fill out. These will be officially completed by late April or early May.

It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

Of Note
It was fun to visit with the Camp Sertoma folks. As a club we need to be aware of this yearly event and help out whenever possible.
Business Notes
You've got to drive it to really FEEL the experience. There is no way, on the web, tocan simulate the deep bass vibration of the engine revving through your body or the bump you get as you trade paint with the number 3 car. Nor can anyone adequately describe the rush of adrenaline you get as your heartbeat races and sweat forms on your palms and forehead. You gotta drive it! Climb in and hold on! Vacationland Fun Park on Highway 371 North features NASCAR simulators that are as close to the real experience as you can get. Dave and Donna Burggraff welcome all visitors and provide all kinds of experiences from go karts to rock climbing. Having company--what a fun way to entertain them.

Rumor Corner
  • The dog pound is still very unhappy about the new seating arrangement. A mini revolution may occur
  • Karla Nelson was trying to get people to bet that the Phillips boys would show up to help her greet. She couldn't get any takers. Good thing cause Randy showed!!
  • It was Camp Sertoma Day. We welcomed the cooking crew! Don't forget to volunteer out at Camp Sertoma if you can this year.
  • The sheriff got to ring the bell to start the meeting cause he always wanted to do that.
  • Welcome back Husqvarna guy Dan Holmes.
  • Brenda Kelley took advantage of the shift to join the Dog Pound today.
  • Charley Bartels is a retired smart mouth with bad ears.
  • The lawyer table speed introduced. Their new sergeant is gonna fine em big time--welcome to Sergeant Lori Ukkelberg. She welcomes all "dirt".
  • Two meetings down and fifty to go--Queen LoAnn got the razz from Steve Mau.
  • George Moore was falling apart in public today. That was nothing compared to Mary Marana's public blooper--she could'nt read her update form and made a public nuisance of herself pointing out errors that weren't there.
  • Happy Fine JD (Les Franz's grandson) receive 3 awards for saving a Pequot BB players life.
  • In Sync Band fine went to Cathe Picek.
  • Honest politician award went to DAP for collecting his own quarters.
  • Diane Rook Johnson gets coffee in bed every day. Andi Holmes paid her fine voluntarily cause she has a great guy who brings her coffee too.
  • Jim Grant thanks God for his zip off pants.
  • Todd Dahl and Carol Winegar got the hugging fine.
  • Mike Boen tried to con Steve into believing that former sergeants cannot be fined. He got the udder amazement cow fine. He also did his Dale Bolt imitation at the intro of the officer team.
  • Wilford Brumbley paid his return fine. Charles Brenny was threatened with incarceration so he had to do Mary's flag route. Inquiring minds want to know what hold Mary has over our Sheriff.
  • Dick Stoltman had to pay a fine because his daughter got married and changed her name on his little son in his class.
  • LoAnn got in a Kinetico ad for Tim today.
  • It cost Lori a buck to lose her $8 on the floor.
  • It is now official--THE REIGN OF FUN (or the reign of terror if you are John Raboin who has been railroaded in as task force leader for the protocol committee.) She doesn't think of herself as competitive but she needs to be #1.
