Program

Today was a celebration of the Sertoma Mariucci Fiesta. Charlie Bartels was humbled by the award given to him by Cathe Picek from Camp Confidence. He expressed the love that goes into this event and lauded everyone who participated. Special thanks went out to Bill Goers and Kari Robinson who were his back-up crew in charge of notes and volunteers. Karen Munsterteiger, Greg Straka, and Kathi Nagorski spent all day Friday working with Charlie. Special mention was made of the huge contribution by Cub Foods including the food order itself which was very well organized and complete, the foccacia bread, and the new addition of scrumptious brownies. Poor Gary Loge, Vegetable Bob Ehrich and Onion Pam all quietly did their jobs. Many people brought significant others and spouses that lightened the load. Everyone was very pleased with how efficiently all aspects of the Fiesta were handled. Charlie remarked, "If you didn't have fun, stay home next year because those of us who did have fun will be back!" Jeff Olson added that Joyce Anderson and Veronica Jensen outdid themselves on the auction. He has a "gut" feeling that this is perhaps the best Classic ever in terms of money raised. As Charlie remarked, "We can all be proud to be Sertomans." Of course our ham of the moment (Bill Goers) had some funny additions that made the rumor column. Program at Confidence Learning Center continues to thrive even in these troubled financial times because of the tremendous amount of local support that is given to help them provide outdoor education for all ages of people with developmental disabilities.

Board Report Steve Mau did discuss the highlights of this month's board meeting which was held at the Chapparel on Tuesday. Important items of business included the addition of two new members, a drop for a total of 175, credit card payments for dues, international and local by-law issues, and some financial arrangements. Complete details are in the email Board Report which will be arriving in your in-box shortly.

Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes!

Sertoman of the Day
David Allen Pundt was today's Sertoman of the Day. Since he was operating on strict instructions not to just discuss his "job" he was a bit limited. David is the endorsed candidate for House District 12A and he is busy campaigning. That still leaves him time to enjoy with his wife and the family he acquired when they married including four grandchildren. He celebrated Sertoma. He joined twice due to a job change so his two different sponsors are Mike Boen and John Raboin. Dave said, "It is a great experience to be a part of this group. Just having the opportunity to talk to people who are working in the community and making a positive impact is worthwhile." He definitely did not have as embarrassing a time at the Mariucci Fiesta as our other politician did. David replaced Paul Koering on the serving line--Paul had to go home and change clothes because he was covered in flour if you viewed him from the back! Dave claims to never have had an embarrassing moment.
Of Note
We received a nice thank you from the Salvation Army for our recent donation.

Kathi Nagorski paid a happy fine today because the Brainerd Dispatch just recently won a prestigious Sweepstakes Award.

Rumor Corner
  • Sandy Fowler has a temporary job with the circus. It seems she is going to be their knife thrower. Paul Gropper was the object of a little practice throw today.
  • Stevie Ray Mau gave an excellent board report today.
  • Joe Schulte has taken up the slack where Mike Howard left off. His group of girls who hang out with Joe the Gigolo are known as "The Jungle".
  • George was trying to be sweet to Sergeant Pam but somehow ended up speechless with the Dum Dum Award.
  • Pattie Hartman thought she was headed for the Hollywood gig today.
  • Bill Goers paid many fines today including a losing your load one. Then he was allowed to get up and spread the funnies about the Fiesta. Karen Munsterteiger accused him of bing Pee Wee Herman's Little Lost Brother. Kathi Nagorski worked entirely too hard and didn't play enough which Bill felt was totally out of character for her. Paul Gropper wasn't born one but became one when Greg Straka had to have someone rescue his keys out of his pocket to move his car since he was elbow deep in meatballs.
  • Jeff Marchand is handing out phony baloney money instead of paying his fines. Nice $2,000 bill!!!!!! Steve Mau was so excited about collecting fines--he thought he could probably skim a bit a make payroll for this week at Brainerd General Rental.
